Program for Improving the Rehabilitators’ Training in Care for Non-Communicable Diseases

Introduction: The progressive aging of the population and the increase in non-communicable diseases generate a health, economic and social impact. The International Center for Neurological Restoration undertakes responsibility for improving the preparation of its staff. Currently, its physical rehabilitation program at the adult static brain injury clinic does not have objectives or methodological procedures aiming at the rehabilitative treatment of patients with cerebrovascular disease and associated hypertension, which limits the actions of rehabilitators in this regard.
Objective: To recommend a program of actions to improving the training of physical rehabilitation professionals for the care of patients with cerebrovascular disease and associated hypertension.
Methods: Using theoretical and empirical methods, a study was carried out for preparing a proposal for a program of actions to improve the training of rehabilitators, with individualized criteria, taking into account the particularities of patients with cerebrovascular disease and associated hypertension.
Results: A program of actions was provided to improve the training of physical rehabilitation professionals who work with patients with cerebrovascular disease and associated hypertension. This program offers application possibilities in the institution, hospitals, therapeutic areas and primary health care and it constitutes a tool to improve the professional performance of rehabilitators, the comprehensive physical rehabilitation process and the quality of life of patients.
Conclusion: The proposed action program guarantees a personalized intervention and improves the quality of care for these patients.
