Glossopharyngeal neuralgia is a fairly rare disease that consists of the paroxysmal appearance of pain at the base of the tongue, tonsillar region or posterior pharynx, which can radiate to the ear, causing great suffering to the patient. In order of describing the evolution of glossopharyngeal neuralgia after the use of pharmacopuncture for the treatment of pain, the case of a 74-year-old male patient, is reported. He was treated in the comprehensive rehabilitation room of Placetas, from May to June 2022, for which pharmacopuncture was performed at Hegu and Waiguan points. This treatment consisted of weekly usage of 0.25 mL of betamethasone at each point, for three consecutive weeks, which turned out to be effective in disappearing the pain, hence it is recommended as an effective interventional therapy for the control of this type of pain.
