Introduction: According to the World Health Organization, the post-COVID-19 condition occurs in individuals with a history of probable or confirmed infection by SARS-CoV-2. In Cuba, the care program for recovered patients is evident in the post-COVID-19 consultation.
Objective: To describe the post-COVID-19 consultation at Raúl Gómez García Community Hospital from August to October 2021.
Methods: A descriptive, cross-sectional and retrospective study was carried out of the post-COVID-19 consultation at Raúl Gómez García Community Hospital, in Diez de Octubre municipality, from August to October 2021.
Results: A total of 364 adult patients were seen during the study period. Two hundred seventeen (217) of them were female and 147 male, representing 60% and 40%, respectively; patients in the age range between 40 and 59 years predominated. Among the reasons for referral of patients from the different levels of the health system, anxiety and fear prevailed in 162 cases, representing 44.5% of the total. Most of the patients required rehabilitation and dietary hygienic treatment in 70.8% (258).
Conclusions: The work contributes to the knowledge of the repercussion of this disease in the short and medium term on the health of individuals, and it allows us to observe that even patients with mild and moderate symptoms show sequelae of the disease after the clinical and epidemiological discharge. Follow-up in consultation guarantees the social reintegration of patients in optimal functional conditions.
