Perfetti Method in an Upper Limb of an Older Adult with Parkinson Disease

Parkinson disease is chronic, progressive and degenerative, characterized by gradual onset of various neuromuscular disorders that reduce the ability to move. In addition to frequent tremors, rigidity, and incoordination, it includes impairment of cognition, perception, and emotional state; consequently, there is a decrease in the quality of life. We report the case of an adult older than 79, admitted to San José Gerontological Center and diagnosed with this disease. The objective was to report the results from a defined treatment plan. After the initial physical and functional evaluation, an eight-session treatment plan was prepared and implemented. It included first-grade exercises with Perfetti Method, during 20 and 30 minutes daily. An increase in the functionality of the patient was proved; therefore, the benefit of this therapeutic method was described.
