Post-Mastectomy Rehabilitation and Physical Agents, an option to avoid complications
Keywords:
post-mastectomy rehabilitation and physical agents, treatment of post-mastectomy complicationsAbstract
Breast cancer is a health problem worldwide and it has great economic, social and health impact. It affects women and men and it is the second most common cancer and the second cause of cancer-related death in women. A review was conducted with the aim of updating the treatment with physical agents and rehabilitation that help prolong survival with quality of life of post-mastectomy patients, whose search strategy was carried out in different databases (MedLine, Enbase, Lilacs, SciELO, Pubmed, Virtual Health Library), with emphasis on the literature published from January 2016 to April 2024. The search was initiated by combining keywords such as rehabilitation, physical agents, post-mastectomy, treatment and complications, post-mastectomy and showed that rehabilitation and physical agents in patients operated on for breast cancer prevent and treat lymphedema, reduce pain and improve upper limb mobility and quality of life.
