Rehabilitation of Written Language in A Patient with Sequelae of Herpetic Viral Meningoencephalitis

Herpetic viral meningoencephalitis is a disease of the central nervous system associated with the herpes simplex virus and whose appearance puts the correct execution of language at risk. The objective is to present the results after evaluating the application of a system of transdisciplinary activities for the rehabilitation of written language in a 57-year-old patient with sequelae of herpes viral meningoencephalitis. During the intervention, the patient received speech therapy and occupational therapy for two months, three hours a day, and the Boston test was used to evaluate the results of the treatment application, which were compared using descriptive statistics. Improvements were observed in the structural components of written language (phonic, lexical, grammatical and graphic aspects) and it was concluded that the system of activities applied can constitute a methodological guide for the rehabilitation of written language in people with sequelae of herpes viral encephalitis.
