Técnicas de energía muscular como método de tratamiento en tendinopatía rotuliana

El tendón de la rodilla tiene un papel importante en funciones biomecánicas dentro del ámbito deportivo, las cuales se expresan al caminar, correr, dar saltos o realizar cambios de dirección. Una lesión en los tejidos blandos de la rodilla, principalmente en el tendón rotuliano, podría amenazar el éxito de la carrera de un atleta. Las técnicas de energía muscular son manipulaciones controladas por el kinesiólogo, con el propósito de disminuir el dolor, y fortalecer y aumentar la longitud muscular, propósitos muy importantes en el plan de tratamiento de tendinopatías. El objetivo de este artículo fue presentar una revisión sobre las técnicas de energía muscular como alternativa para el paciente y el kinesiólogo en el tratamiento de la sintomatología de la tendinopatía rotuliana. En el proceso de búsqueda se revisó información sobre los diferentes tratamientos de tendinopatía rotuliana de ocho años atrás en buscadores electrónicos como PubMed, Trip y SciELO. Además, se consultaron revistas médicas indexadas y libros físicos referentes al tema, tanto en inglés como en español. Se concluyó que las técnicas de energía muscular pueden constituir una alternativa de tratamiento eficaz de la sintomatología de la tendinopatía, menos costosa, de fácil aplicación con acceso universal y menos invasiva que otras técnicas utilizadas para el tratamiento de tendinopatías.
